Becoming Catholic / OCIA

The process by which adults come into the Church has come to be known as OCIA, which stands for "The Order of Christian Initiation of Adults."
The OCIA is a process, not a program. It forms a community of inquirers, sponsors, and guides moving through the education, formation, and ritualization of entrance into the Catholic community, whereby those interested in learning about the Catholic faith come together on a weekly basis to learn about the Scriptures and the teachings of the Roman Catholic Church, and to discover where God is present in their lives.

The process is designed for those adults who are:

• Unbaptized. The primary focus of the Order of Christian Initiation of Adults is on those who are not already Christian and have not been catechized.
• Christian baptized and practicing from other denominations who seek entry into the Catholic Church, full communion with the Catholic Church.

We would love to hear from interested people year-round; however, classes generally begin in mid-September. If you are ready to begin your journey, please complete the form by clicking the button below:

If you have any questions, please contact Dwight or Toni Williams [email protected] or Kimberly Zubillaga at [email protected] or (913) 879-1012 or reference the Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) provided in the margin to the left.

Baptized Catholics who desire to receive the sacraments of Holy Communion and Confirmation may contact the Church office or [email protected] to begin this process, which is different than OCIA.
