“I am the way, the truth, and the life”
The Wea Knights provide scholarship assistance in three ways.
1. To parish high school graduates that will be furthering their educations at a college or other post high school institution. The "Wea Knights Scholarship" applications will be accepted through April 12th and awarded in June.Scholarship Purpose and Objective: To recognize a graduating high school student’s commitment to their Catholic faith while they were in high school and to encourage their continued commitment while continuing their education after high school.
Eligibility Criteria: A Post-Secondary Scholarship applicant must be a graduating high school senior who is a baptized and confirmed Catholic and whose parents or guardians are registered parishioners at Queen of the Holy Rosary-Wea Catholic Church. The applicant need not have attended a Catholic high school. Parish home-schooled students are also eligible to apply. Any scholarship award is conditioned on the student attending a qualified college, junior college, technical training school or trade school with the intent to earn a degree or certification in a chosen field.
Application and Scoring Criteria: Each student applicant must complete and submit a formal application form and prepare an original essay. The information required in the application will generally include a summary of current school activities, extracurricular activities (including community and parish service), future educational plans, and an essay. The scoring of each applicant will be based upon: 1) the quality and quantity of the information provided in the application, and 2) the quality of the original (not plagiarized or AI-generated) essay.
Scholarship Awards: The highest scoring applicant will be awarded a one-time $1500 scholarship to attend a qualified post-secondary school or training center. The second and third highest scoring applicants will each receive a one-time $1000 scholarship. Additional scholarships in other amounts may be awarded at the discretion of the council based upon the scholarship money available and the merit of the applicants.
