Rosary Path

Mary's Rosary Garden and Path:  This is the hope we who established the area have for those who visit here.  That this will be a place where one can go meditate with Mary, meditate on the joys in one's life, or get consolation for one's sorrows.  To receive peace and serenity.

The flowers & plants chosen for the garden are mostly from “Mary's Flowers,” a book that explains legends connecting Mary & plants.  Our Lady is known as the “Flower of the Field.”  It is interesting to note that there are at least a thousand flowers and herbs named after Mary.  Some in our garden:  “Lily of the Valley,” Mary's tears, symbol of humility; Lavender, “Mary's Drying Plant,” purity, cleanliness and virtue; Helleborus-Christmas Rose ( & Lenten Rose); Columbine, “Our Lady's Shoes;”  Campanula, “Our Lady's Thimble;”  Daffodil, “Mary's Star;”  and of course, “Mary's Rose” of which there are many & therefore, many different “meanings.'  Those currently in the garden are original from around the gazebo.  Two other plants in the original gazebo garden we wanted to make sure we kept were the peonies, also know as “Mary's Rose” and “Pentecost Rose.”  And the irises known as “Emblem of Our Lady,” and are for “fidelity” with their blade-shaped leaves denoting her sorrows.

Prayerfully, when visiting our church's patron's garden and sitting in Mary's presence and/or praying her rosary,  one can contemplate on some of the plants & their Mary meanings.  We pray all will feel her comfort and the loving peace of her Son.
